If you live in an HDB, you're also sharing the building with non-human housemates. Cockroaches are one of the most feared pests that plague hdb homeowners and residents. Cockroaches are nasty pests that may quickly infest and take over your flat if you don't take necessary precautions.

Fill in cracks and holes around your hdb's windows, and other entryways.

Examine the flooring and walls in each room of your home, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms. Do you see the pipes for your sink and toilet coming in? Caulking should be used to fill in any gaps around them.

Have you noticed any cracks in your old HDB's kitchen garbage cute? Those should also be well sealed. Roaches are nearly flat and can fit into small holes to hide. Closing up the entry points for roaches will go a long way towards keeping them out.

Clean your kitchen counters on a regular basis to avoid leaving crumbs or food that can attract cockroaches.

What are roaches' favorite foods? Almost everything, to be precise. But, aside from decomposing food, their primary food sources are the same as ours: crumbs, leftover veggies, sweet treats, etc.
Simple things like cleaning your dishes, wiping counters, putting away leftovers, and keeping your floors free of crumbs may make a major difference in your cleaning routine. Vacuuming and washing your counters and tables are easy strategies to eliminate the main food sources for roaches.

To avoid moisture buildup, properly organize and ventilate cupboards under sinks and crawl areas.

If you're like most people, the junk supplies drawer of your house is underneath your kitchen sink. It's most likely stuffy, dark, and comes with 5 litre detergents bottles. Roaches prefer dark, humid, congested environments like these.
Decluttering and organizing such things is the best thing you can do. Plastic boxes with lids are preferable to cardboard boxes because cockroaches love moist cardbox boxes.

Make sure your closets aren't retaining humidity and attracting cockroaches while we're at it. Cockroaches don't normally live in bedrooms, but arranging and dehumidifying your closet can help keep them away.
